At Craven Street Wealth, we recognise that good mental health is just as important as physical health. It influences how we think, feel and act, how we build relationships, and how we contribute to our communities. Just as importantly, it allows us to look out for one another.
This World Mental Health Day, I’m proud to share that, following training we have introduced several Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs).
Why this matters
Mental Health First Aiders play a vital role in the workplace by:
- Providing immediate support to colleagues experiencing distress.
- Helping to break down stigma and encourage open conversations.
- Guiding people towards professional resources when needed.
Our approach
We want our people to feel supported and valued every day. To help achieve this, we have:
- Trained MHFAs across the firm who are available as a first point of contact for anyone who needs support. All conversations are confidential.
- An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering professional advice and guidance on personal, family, financial, and workplace wellbeing.
- A culture that encourages conversation, whether in meetings, team catch-ups, or simply by taking a moment during the working day.
Looking forward
Becoming a Mental Health First Aider has been important to our volunteers, equipping them with the skills to support colleagues effectively and to open up conversations that can sometimes be challenging and deeply personal.
The strong response from colleagues volunteering for this training reflects a shared commitment across the firm to support one another, break down stigma, and ensure everyone knows they are not alone.
Mental health is not a one-off discussion. It evolves with life events, relationships, and personal circumstances, and we are committed to making sure no one faces those challenges in isolation.
Let’s continue to look out for one another and create a culture where asking “how are you, really?” is always welcomed.
