We recently had the pleasure of welcoming four individuals to Craven Street Wealth for two-week work experience placements, giving them the opportunity to gain an insight into life within a professional financial planning and wealth management business. 

During their time with us, each student had the opportunity to experience different aspects of the business, meet members of our team and gain a broader understanding of the work that goes on behind the scenes. 

A closer look at financial planning 

Over the course of their two weeks, the students were introduced to the different teams and functions that support Craven Street Wealth. This gave them an opportunity to see how the various parts of the business work together, from shadowing advisers and client support to gaining an insight into marketing and operations departments. 

As well as learning more about the financial services industry, the placements provided an opportunity to develop practical workplace skills, understand professional expectations and experience what it is like to work as part of a wider team.

The placements provided an opportunity to hear directly from the students about what they learned, what they enjoyed and how the experience has influenced their understanding of working in financial services. 

“I had a great time working with everyone at CSW and seeing firsthand how each department of the firm operates, something I have had little exposure to before, which made it incredibly insightful.” 

“My favourite part was working with the report writers. It was great to see how much detail goes into their work and how it all comes together. As I’m aiming to become a financial planner in the future, getting this foundation, and seeing all the work that goes on in the background was incredibly useful. I learned a lot and am grateful for the time I spent there!” 

“From day one, everyone was so welcoming and really made me feel like part of the team. It was a brilliant way to get a holistic look at how everything functions from pensions and investments to tax efficiency.” 

“I learned so many new things over the course of my time there and particularly enjoyed the New Business report writing and shadowing Bethany where I got to see what a day in the life of an adviser looks like.” 

We are proud to have welcomed all four students to Craven Street Wealth and hope their time with us has given them a useful insight into financial services, the range of careers available within the industry and the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
