Supporting a Season of Arts and Culture with Canterbury Festival 2026

We’re pleased to be supporting this year’s Canterbury Festival as a sponsor of Britten Sinfonia’s Surround Sound Playlist, taking place at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday 27 October.

The performance offers audiences a different way to experience classical music, with the opportunity to sit or lie on mats in the Cathedral Nave while the music is performed throughout the space.

About the Performance

Britten Sinfonia will perform alongside the vocal ensemble Tenebrae, with saxophonist Amy Dickson and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Tawadros also featuring.

The programme brings together orchestral, choral, solo and chamber music, with works from composers including Allegri, Bartók, Copland, Handel, Ravel and Caroline Shaw.

With more than 100 musicians taking part, the performance will combine a range of musical styles, bringing together well-known pieces alongside new works and compositions.

The festival

The celebration continues for 2 weeks featuring a wide range of events and performers, from acrobatics and live music to comedy, literature and family activities. Highlights include Circa’s Eternity, featuring acrobats performing within Canterbury Cathedral, a recital from organist Anna Lapwood, and performances from artists including Rumer, Braimah Kanneh-Mason and the London African Gospel Choir.

The Festival’s Books & Ideas programme will also feature a range of authors, historians and public figures, while free events, public art and family activities will provide opportunities for audiences to engage with the festival across the city.

Although Canterbury Festival is best known for its programme of performances and events throughout October, its work continues throughout the year to develop and support the arts across Kent. Funds raised through the Festival’s fundraising activities, appeals and events help support programmes for young people and those who may not otherwise have access to the arts. We’re pleased to support Canterbury Festival and its wider work to make arts and culture more accessible within the local community.
