With a stacked programme of music, theatre, comedy, talks, family shows and more, Canterbury Festival returned from 19 October – 2 November 2024.
Having supported last year, Craven Street Wealth were delighted to become a Headline Sponsor at this year’s festivities, now in it’s 40th year of showcasing local acts alongside international touring artists and companies.
The exceptionally talented Tenebrae choir opened the festival on Saturday 19th October, performing Joby Talbot’s modern masterpiece of Path of Miracles in the beautiful setting of Canterbury Cathedral. The stunning piece conducted by Nigel Short tells the story of the great pilgrimage to Santiago and received a standing ovation from the Cathedral nave packed full of members from Craven Street Wealth, distinguished guests and other festival patrons and supporters.
Over the next two weeks, the Festival presented a months’ worth of gigs, concerts and recitals with the likes of and Ista Kanneh-Mason, the BBC Big Band, Irish comedian Keith Farnan, The Shires country band and winner of America’s Got Talent and Las Vegas resident, Tape Face.
Although predominately known for these performances throughout October, Canterbury Festival continues to work throughout the year to develop and support the arts in Kent, which is also home to one of the six regional offices of Craven Street Wealth. Money raised through fundraising events, appeals and the festival helps support activities with young people and those who would not otherwise have access to the arts.
Luxmaralis are also welcomed back for Fantastic Tales and Where to Find Them between 13 – 21 December, having also previously provide a spectacular event at Canterbury Cathedral. This outdoor light and sound experience can be experienced against the stunning backdrop of St Augustine’s Abbey and The King’s School, transporting visitors back in time to the Anglo Saxon era.
