Celebrating 40 years of the Medway Business Awards

Since being first launched 40 years ago, the Medway Business Awards have grown into one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in Kent, celebrating the achievements of both large and small businesses based in the Medway area.

Business local to, or operating from the area can nominate themselves, and for 2024, a Rising Star member of their team and/or an Unsung Hero. Applications are then subject to a rigorous judging process with each entry treated with integrity and fairness.

Every entry is treated with integrity and fairness being reviewed by no less than three judges before a final sift is held to decide on businesses to be shortlisted. These finalists are then visited by the judges to find out more about the operating of the business and people behind them. The winners are then announced during a glittering awards ceremony.

Our own Head of Business Development, Daniel Robertson was delighted to have been asked to join Susan Jennings, Partner at Furley Page solicitors and Rachel Emmerson, Partner at Kreston Reeves accountancy practise as a judge for 2024, presenting the Small Business of the Year award to Frost Solutions.

“Congratulations to Frost Solutions who I had the pleasure of awarding Small Business of the Year 2024 for their creativity, adaptability and innovation that is anything but small.” Daniel Robertson

On receiving this award, Managing Director & Co-Owner Charley Frost said, “Thank you for hosting such a wonderful night. It was an amazing feeling to hear our name being read out; it made me extremely proud of the hard work and effort my team has put into elevating the business over the last few years. It was a night to remember.”

Other awards presented at the ceremony held at the Corn Exchange, Rochester and hosted by Nicola Everett, Head of Multimedia News at The KM Media Group on 22 November 2024 were:

On winning Trusted Contractor of the Year, Primech Building Services Ltd said, “We’re thrilled and overwhelmingly proud to have been awarded the ‘Trusted Contractor’ Award at the Medway Business Awards on Friday. As a team, we’ve worked extremely hard to prove our commitment to the quality and trust of our clients. This is a reflection of the values, hard work, and commitment that define who we are. To be acknowledged for trust—one of the most profound values—is truly humbling as a company. This award belongs to every member of our team who has poured their passion, expertise, and integrity into our success. Our dedication to the local community is ever-present and will long continue!”

The newly introduced Unsung Hero and Rising Star categories were particularly popular. The thrilled recipients of these awards were James Armstrong from Guscott Heating Services and Kelsey Pegg from Hectic Lifestyles Limited, trading as NutraDirect, respectively. James said, “Winning the Unsung Hero Award is a huge personal honour for me; however, I wouldn’t have achieved it without the incredible support from the whole team at Guscott Heating Services. The dedication of my colleagues, our amazing suppliers, and the customers I get to interact with daily make this a fantastic place to work.”

Other proud finalists included:

The judges, faced with a tough competition this year, expressed their gratitude to all participants who entered the 2024 awards, highlighting the strength and diversity of the local business community and sponsors including Furley Page, Kreston Reeves, Craven Street Wealth, Uniper, VBH GB, MidKent College, GrainLNG, University of Greenwich and Medway Council.
